As a district, Clifton ISD did not meet federal AYP requirements due to the 2% and/or 1% cap for students receiving special education services and testing with alternate versions of the STAAR test.

TEA annually rates Texas public school districts and individual schools and the awards the following ratings: Exemplary, Recognized, Academically Acceptable or Academically Unacceptable.The ratings are based upon student performance in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills tests, school completion data for the class that graduated (high school level) and dropout data (middle school level). Within each subject, test scores are evaluated in the following categories: all students, African-American, Hispanic, white and economically disadvantaged.
